AI training requires a written license
Without a separate written license expressly permitting the use, you may not collect, copy, extract, transform, or use protected Anatomy Mapper® materials to train, pretrain, fine-tune, distill, or otherwise develop or improve an artificial intelligence or machine-learning model. This includes creating training or evaluation datasets, synthetic training examples, embeddings for model development, and derived datasets for those purposes.
Derivatives, distillation, and continued model use
No permission is granted by this policy to create or use derivative works of protected materials, derived datasets, embeddings, feature vectors, synthetic examples, or other transformed representations for AI or machine-learning purposes. This includes using protected materials, or protected content reproduced in model outputs, to train, fine-tune, distill, evaluate, or improve another model. Transformation, aggregation, re-encoding, or transfer through an intermediary does not, by itself, grant additional rights.
Permission for one model, version, project, or stage of development does not automatically extend to a derivative, fine-tuned, distilled, merged, successor, or replacement model, or to another party. No permission for continued use, deployment, inference, analytics, plotting, integration, or distribution of such models is implied by prior access to or authorized use of the materials. Any such permission must be expressly covered by the applicable written license, including its scope and duration. Distillation or succession does not, by itself, extend a license or remove its restrictions.
Materials and formats covered
These reservations apply to materials in which ANATOMY MAPPER OPCO owns or is authorized to license rights, including, without limitation: maps, illustrations, vector graphics, avatars, and other spatial representations; terminology collections and canonical descriptions; AMID™ identifiers, AMCODE™ concepts, AMCODEX™ concepts, associated codes, relationships, and mappings; coordinates, geometry, region boundaries, hierarchies, translations, and annotations; software, calculators, computational tools, and documentation; and protected datasets, embeddings, feature vectors, visualizations, and protected elements of mathematical or other outputs.
These examples are illustrative and not exhaustive. Omission of a particular material, format, technology, model, or use does not imply permission. Except for permissions expressly granted by this policy or a separate written license, no additional license or permission is granted by implication, public availability, technical accessibility, or silence.
These reservations apply across formats and delivery methods, including HTML, images, SVGs, scripts, JSON, downloads, APIs, and content obtained through search services or other intermediaries. Changing a material’s format or obtaining it through an intermediary does not, by itself, grant additional permission.
Limited permission for search referrals
Our machine-readable overview describes Anatomy Mapper and links to official resources for this purpose. It is subject to the same restrictions on training and reuse.
Subject to the access restrictions and crawler rules for this site, search services may index text from publicly accessible pages to provide text-only search referrals: links back to those pages, page titles, and brief natural-language descriptive excerpts for a natural person (human) user. They may retain only the index and limited cached text necessary for that purpose. This permission does not authorize public cached copies, bulk extraction or reconstruction of our terminology and code systems, AI training, or licensing the content to another party for those uses.
This limited search-referral permission does not authorize displaying, reproducing, extracting, or reconstructing the Anatomy Mapper® spatial library, terminology library, code library, visual library, or other protected data, in whole or in part, including in AI-generated responses. This exclusion covers maps, illustrations, thumbnails, cropped regions, SVGs, vector geometry, coordinates, and region boundaries. A text-based encoding or description of spatial-library data does not qualify as a permitted descriptive excerpt.
No additional permission is granted for bulk ingestion into retrieval-augmented generation systems, answer datasets, or other collections that substitute for accessing Anatomy Mapper. Automated access must respect access controls and crawler restrictions and must not disrupt the service or evade a block. A robots.txt allowance is a crawler instruction, not a content license. Any permission granted by this policy is limited to requesting a resource to display or surface the text-only search referrals described above to a natural person (human) user for an allowed purpose. It does not grant a training license, a bulk display or analytics license, or an integration license.
Relationship to our terms and other rights
This policy supplements and reiterates the Terms of use. The limited search-referral permission above is an express exception to the general restrictions on automated access in those terms. All other restrictions continue to apply. Private and preview environments remain restricted, including for search.
Nothing in this policy expands our rights in third-party materials, overrides their applicable licenses, or limits a use that applicable law permits notwithstanding this reservation. Existing written licenses govern expressly authorized uses. All other rights are reserved.
Licensing and machine-readable notices
To discuss an authorized AI, research, or commercial use, request a written license before collecting or using the materials. Identify the materials, intended uses, models or services and their versions, proposed derivatives or distillations, downstream and successor-model uses, requested distribution rights, and the scope and duration of any continued deployment or use.
We express these reservations through crawler directives, resource headers, and a TDM rights-reservation file. These notices do not grant rights beyond this policy.
